A crone's sonnet

Once long ago I drowned myself in tears
I lost my love, it broke my heart – I cried,
I got confronted with my deepest fears,
and worse, it was as if my true joy died.

My darkest days, so endless and forlorn,
then lead me to a deeper place to see
the real heart loss that I had still to mourn:
the one who let me down the most was me.

A pledge I made, to keep on ev’ry day:
I love and trust myself to be and speak,
so words no matter wild or wise I’ll say
to open heart connections that I seek.

Such love profound brings joy right back to shine,
and sparks and twinkles of a grace divine.
